The NEC e238 showcases a design that reflects the prevailing style of early 2000s mobile phones. Its compact dimensions of 90 x 44 x 23 mm make it handy enough to fit comfortably in the palm or pocket, and at a weight of just 95 grams, it is lightweight, contributing to its portability. The device utilizes a Mini-SIM and sports a conventional clamshell form factor with a primary TFT display, which is capable of showcasing 65,000 colors at a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels—quite standard during its release. The secondary external display, a 4096-color STN screen measuring 30 x 120 pixels, offers handy notifications and caller ID information without needing to open the phone.
