Sony Ericsson W850 Network and Connectivity

Network and Connectivity

The Sony Ericsson W850 was built to operate on GSM and UMTS networks, with specific bands for 2G and 3G, enabling a maximum data speed of 384 kbps. This facilitated early mobile internet and video calling. Despite the lack of USB ports and WLAN, its Bluetooth capabilities provided adequate connectivity for file transfers and audio streaming. The inclusion of a WAP 2.0/HTML browser and support for RSS feeds kept users connected to the internet, while infrared offered a method for device-to-device communication, a relatively common feature for the time.
