Launching with Android 1.6 (Donut) and upgradable to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), the Xperia X10 featured a custom Sony Ericsson overlay called Timescape/Mediascape UI. This distinct interface aggregated social media feeds, messages, and emails into a single timeline, aiming to simplify user interactions. Despite its innovative concept, initial iterations of the software faced issues such as sluggish performance and lack of updates, which sometimes frustrated users seeking seamless navigation. However, by upgrading to Gingerbread, some of these performance issues were mitigated, extending the usability of the device.
