T-Mobile Sidekick Functionality and Features

Functionality and Features

One of the standout features of the Sidekick was its Danger OS version 4.7, which provided a user interface tailored for text messaging and email. Messaging was at the heart of this device's functionality, with the physical keyboard facilitating quick and accurate typing. However, it was limited in terms of network capabilities, supporting only 2G networks with GSM bands across 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz, alongside GPRS and EDGE for data.

For storage, the Sidekick was quite minimalistic by today's standards, offering 128MB of RAM and 64MB of ROM, although it did provide a dedicated microSD slot to expand memory for additional files like music. Speaking of which, the Sidekick supported MP3, WAV, and WMA audio formats, making it a reasonable choice for listening to music on the go, especially with its provision of a 3.5mm headphone jack — a feature that was standard at the time but cherished now after its removal in many modern devices.
