Performance and Software
Powered by the Qualcomm MSM8274AB Snapdragon 800 chipset, the Mi 3 delivered solid performance for its time. The quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 CPU, paired with the Adreno 330 GPU, ensured smooth multitasking and gaming. Although introduced with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the phone was upgradable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 5, providing users access to newer features and security updates.
While the lack of expandable storage could be a drawback for some, the device was available in 16GB and 64GB internal storage variants, both coupled with 2GB RAM, operating on eMMC 4.5 memory. This ample storage, coupled with MIUI’s optimization, kept the phone running efficiently.
