Performance and Software
Under the hood, the A690 ran on Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread, powered by a single-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A9 processor supported by a Mediatek MT6575 chipset. While this setup ensured basic functionality, it was not designed for multitasking or running demanding applications. The PowerVR SGX531 GPU would have been adequate for simple graphics tasks at the time. With only 512MB of RAM and the same amount of internal storage, users would have had to rely heavily on the microSDHC card slot to store apps and media, reflecting the limited onboard capabilities available to entry-level users back then.
