Connectivity and Features
In terms of connectivity, the Samsung D500 supported basic GSM 2G networks but added a unique edition called the D500E which included EDGE for faster data speeds. While it lacked modern connectivity standards like WLAN, it did feature Bluetooth 1.1 and an infrared port, which were popular wireless transmission methods at the time. The absence of GPS and a radio may limit its functionality when looked at from a contemporary lens, but it was not unusual for devices of its era.
The proprietary USB connection limited flexibility but was in line with industry norms back then. It didn’t feature a 3.5mm audio jack, which pointed users towards its polyphonic and MP3 ringtones, focusing on a more personalized audio experience.
